What else you should know about me: The Teacher - Parambir Singh Kathait I, Parambir Singh Kathait, have been teaching English and Social studies in GIC Achharikhunt since Sept 2003. In September 2005, I had the opportunity to undergo comprehensive IT training under Microsoft’s PIL program. The projects that we made during training and later for certification exams excited me and made me realize that IT intervention had huge potential in improving student learning. I have undertaken the enterprise to prepare the content based lesson plans in the subject Social Studies which would be user friendly to students as well as teachers. Just after being selected in ITLA 2007 I was selected to serve as TGT Social studies in Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Dehradun being the capital of the state Uttarakhand and this school one of the most reputed schools, I found sufficient opportunities to improve my potentials to spread IT literacy among the society. I started my regular classes in this school in July 2008. I found this school to be an appropriate platform for me as LCD projectors have already been established in four class rooms of IX & X. Our state government had taken initials to introduce the usage of computers in our teaching learning process. CDs available to teach by using LCD Projectors were available only in Mathematics and science subjects. I being an innovative teacher awarded for my deeds in the field of introducing digital teaching lesson plans and being a teacher of Social Studies, had a challenge before me to use the LCD Projector in my teaching and learning process. To meet the challenge I started to prepare Power Point presentations after my school hours and I used the LCD Projector in my teaching with more enthusiasm. Here I found the proper platform to introduce the Project based learning among my students. I did a lot of labour and met the challenge. Today my students are learning through Project Based Learning and finding pleasure in their work. They are feeling more comfortable in their learning process through Project Based learning.
